Our classes

Two friendly classes to choose from

We keep every group small (a maximum of thirteen mats) so there's time for a proper welcome and help whenever you want it. Places are limited, so booking ahead is a good idea.

Gentle pace

Beginners Yoga

Mondays, 10 to 11am
Starts Monday 5 October

Never done yoga before? This class was made for you. We start right at the beginning: how to breathe, how to move, and how to make every pose comfortable for your body. Everything is slow, gentle and properly explained, with plenty of rests along the way.

You don't need to be flexible, fit or bendy. You just need to turn up. You'll leave feeling looser, calmer and quietly pleased with yourself.

  • Perfect for complete beginners and anyone returning after a break
  • Every pose explained step by step, no jargon
  • Rest whenever you like, it's your hour
First class free · then £7
Steady flow

Flow Yoga

Thursdays, 11am to 12pm
Starts Thursday 29 October

A calm, flowing hour that links breath to movement. Expect a gentle warm-up, a mindful flow through familiar poses, and a proper relaxation at the end that you'll wish could last all day.

It's one small step on from the beginners class, but every movement comes with an easier option, so all levels are genuinely welcome. Go at your own pace; nobody's watching but the teacher.

  • Suits all levels, with options for every move
  • Builds gentle strength, balance and ease
  • Finishes with a lovely guided relaxation
First class free · then £7
Your first class is free. Come and see if it's for you. No pressure, no strings. Book each class you fancy on the calendar below.

Bring your own mat and a bottle of water. Comfy clothes are all you need.

Your first visit

Nervous about coming? That's completely normal

Almost everyone feels a bit unsure walking into their first class. Here's exactly what to expect. No surprises, no judgement.

Before you arrive

Wear anything comfy you can move in. Bring your own mat and a bottle of water, and that's it. A warm layer is nice for the relaxation at the end.

When you get here

There's plenty of free parking right outside the community centre. Come in about ten minutes early, say hello, and we'll help you find a spot that feels right.

During class

Everything is offered with options. Take the easier one whenever you like, and rest any time. Nobody is watching you, and nothing is compulsory. It's your hour.

Afterwards

Expect to feel calmer, looser and a little bit proud of yourself. Your first class is free. After that it's £7 a class. Book the classes you'd like to come to on the calendar, as many or as few as you want.

About us

A small, local yoga class with a big welcome

Happy Place Yoga is a small independent yoga class based at Egglescliffe Community Centre, serving Eaglescliffe, Yarm and the surrounding villages. We believe yoga should feel like a treat, not a test: an hour in your week that belongs entirely to you.

Classes are deliberately small and unhurried. You won't find mirrors, competition or complicated poses with impossible names. Just steady breathing, gentle movement, and that lovely feeling of leaving lighter than you arrived.

Questions, answered

Anything else you're wondering?

I've never done yoga. Will I be able to keep up?

Yes, truly. The Monday class is built for complete beginners: every pose is explained from scratch, everything moves slowly, and resting is always encouraged. Most people in the room will be beginners too. You don't need to be flexible to start. That's what the yoga is for.

What do I need to bring?

Your own yoga mat, a bottle of water, and comfy clothes you can move in. That's everything. A jumper or blanket is lovely for the relaxation at the end of class.

How much does it cost, and how do I pay?

Your first class is completely free. After that it's £7 a class, payable on the day. There are no memberships, blocks or contracts. Come when it suits you, or reserve your mat weekly.

Where do I park?

There's ample free parking right outside Egglescliffe Community Centre on Durham Lane. The room is on the ground floor, just a few steps from the car park.

I have an injury or health condition. Can I still come?

In most cases, absolutely. Just mention it in the notes when you book, or have a quiet word before class. Every movement can be adapted. If you're unsure, check with your GP first, then come and go at your own pace.

Do I need to book, or can I just turn up?

Please book if you can. Classes are limited to thirteen mats so everyone gets proper attention, and Mondays especially can fill up. Every class on the calendar shows how many spots are free, so you always know before you book. Booking takes under a minute above. If a class shows as full, register your interest and we'll let you know the moment a mat frees up.

What's the difference between the two classes?

Beginners Yoga (Mondays) is slower and more explained, ideal if you're new or easing back in. Flow Yoga (Thursdays) links poses together into a gentle flow. It's one small step up, still with easy options throughout. Plenty of people happily do both.
